Leo Jessip was born February 9, 1926, in South Sioux City, Nebraska to Dewey and Carrie Wills Jessip.  He passed away February 5, 2010, at the age of 83 years, 11 months, and 27 days.
Leo and Geneva Thompson were married in 1955 in Russell, Iowa, and were blessed with three children: Susan, Lee Ann, and Tom.
His parents Dewey Jessip, Carrie Smith and stepfather Donald Smith, brothers Don and Johnny Jessip preceded him in death.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Geneva; his children Susan Stephenson of Chariton, Lee Ann (John) Beers of Corydon and Tom (Sheri) Jessip of Chariton; 9 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; brother Bob Jessip; and sisters Wanda (Richard) Peck and Lola (Richard) Relph; and many other relatives and friends.

John "Jack" Prather passed away at the Chariton Nursing and Rehab Center January 28, 2010, with his loving wife of 54 years by his side.
He was born to John and Bessie Prather on the family farm October 20, 1925.  He was a life long resident of Russell.  Working with his brothers they started Prather Brothers Construction.  After retiring Jack and Frances moved into Russell where Jack enjoyed woodworking, fishing, mushroom hunting and flying. 
He is survived by wife Frances, daughter Deb (fiance Greg) Myers of Des Moines and grandson Justin of State College, Pennsylvania.  Brothers Bob Prather of Chariton and Doug Prather of Russell and sisters Evelyn Kent of Osceola and Mary Brown of Des Moines also survive him.  Interment will be in the Chariton Cemetery.

Leona Thompson has also passed on but her obituary was not available at the time of this publication.  It will be in the April newsletter.
