We will post  your birth, engagement, wedding announcements; your church events, civic events, organization events and news; news items, etc. Please leave them at the Museum/Library Monday through Friday between 1:00 pm and 5:00 pm.

There will be no commercial advertising and no individual garage sale announcements.  If your church or organization is having a garage sale, that will be included as a church or organization event.

Obituary

Mary I. LaFavre, 94, passed away May 30, 2008.  She was born to James and Mary Carr on September 30, 1913, in Melrose.  On September 20, 1937, she married Glen L. LaFavre in Melrose. Surviving are sons Donald (Linda) and James (Leota) LaFavre of Rock Falls, IL, Morrie LaFavre (Lynn Harpere) of Rockford, IL; daughters Linda (Lowell) Fraim, Springfield, IL, and Mary  (Roger) Near and Karen (Rod) Kleckler of Rock Falls, IL., 17 grandchildren; 31 great grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren.  Burial was at Oak Knoll Memorial Park, Sterling, IL.
